ATSONIC offers live video and text traffic updates on mobile devices
|
A new enhanced wireless service delivering live video traffic updates and travel times on mobile phones and PDAs was announced in December by ATSONIC, a Chicago software company.
sweetTRAFFIC provides information from critical traffic zones such as expressways, intersections, downtowns, airports, business districts, recreational areas, major metropolitan areas and suburbs. The new wireless service offers safety and convenience to travelers and commuters by supplying a complete set of features in the area of itinerary monitoring, planning and management.
The real-time images or traffic information are supported by a large variety of mobile phones and PDAs. "We wanted to offer high quality information to users, at a glance," Pirzadeh said. "Delivering real-time content to any traffic participant is by itself a big step in road safety increase and save a lot of time and money to everyone."
The service is currently available in preview release in the Chicago area and will be expanded in the first quarter of 2003 in all major metropolitan areas such as New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Dallas, Miami and Seattle.
The service pre-registration or a free copy of the application can be obtained on-line.
